Machine Builder 

PharmaWorks is in search of a skilled machine builder to apply the technical skills required to build and assemble precision automated packaging machinery for the pharmaceutical industry.

Main Responsibilities

  • Fit and assemble components according to assembly drawings or solid models and has the knowledge of machine construction to construct, rebuild and repair packaging machines and equipment, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Troubleshoot machinery and sub assembly problems to identify and fix the root cause of the problems.
  • Layout hole locations on their own to drill and tap holes on parts for the assembly process.
  • Aligns mechanical components for manual assembly with or without a hoist (max 56 lbs.)
  • Operates the machine to verify functionality, machine capability and conformance to the customer’s specifications.
  • Perform modifications to parts utilizing Hand Tools, manual mills and other fabrication equipment.
  • Provide feedback/alert engineering, in a collaborative manner, to alert and communicate changes and modifications occurring during the assembly process.
  • Work safely at all times following company policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Possibility of occasional travel to end User sites.


Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED, Associate Degree or equivalent desired.
  • Physically able to push, pull, bend, stoop, climb, walk and lift 56 pounds on a continuous basis.
  • Solid background in blueprint reading (mechanical/pneumatic), machining, machine assembly, troubleshooting & problem-solving.
    Experience in building new electro-mechanical machinery, preferably packaging machinery.
  • Understanding of the metric measurement system.
  • Skilled utilization of hand tools i.e. Screw drivers , Pliers, wrenches, Allen wrenches.
  • Skilled utilization of measuring devices i.e. tape measure, calipers, micrometer.
  • Skilled utilization of basic fabrication equipment i.e. Drill motor, Drill press, manual mill, band saw.
  • Basic computer skills, interface devices and software interaction: i.e. Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and other software requiring basic data entrée.
  • Able to work in an organized manner in a collaborative/teamwork environment alongside other machinery building activity.
  • Self-motivate to achieve scheduled task timelines and be able to cope with pressure on occasions.
  • Interpersonal skills to be able to communicate with employees at all levels within the company.
  • Be prepared to work occasional overtime when required.
  • Assist with tasks in other parts of the plant, as required.
  • Knowledge of good manufacturing practices.
