Machine Building Electrician 

Main Responsibilities

  • Accurately perform the electrical “wiring” on the company’s industrial electro-mechanical packaging machinery/assemblies/sub-assemblies.
  • Verify machinery is safe and prepared properly to be connected to the facility’s electrical power grid.
  • Electrically troubleshoot non-operational/malfunctioning machinery/sub assembly to help identify “root cause” of the malfunction.
  • Provide feedback/alert Engineering, in a collaborative manner, of possible safety/electrical code concerns in the electrical design.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED, Associate Degree or equivalent desired.
  • Journeyman Electrician or formal training in electrical wiring/assembly via an apprenticeship or equivalent program or equivalent experience.
  • Physically able to push, pull, bend, stoop climb, walk and lift 56 pounds on a continuous basis.
  • Good vision capabilities.
  • Work safely at all times.
  • “Read”/follow electrical wiring schematics/diagrams.
  • “Read”/follow Bill of Material lists.
  • “Read”/follow mechanical fabrication drawings.
  • Experience in building capital equipment (new electro-mechanical machinery), preferably packaging machinery.
  • Skilled utilization of hand tools i.e. Screw drivers , Pliers, wrenches, Allen wrenches
  • Skilled utilization of measuring devices i.e. Volt Ohm Meter, tape measure, calipers
  • Skilled utilization basic fabrication equipment i.e. Drill motor, Drill press, band saw, jig saw, soldering iron, heat gun.
  • Basic fabrication and mechanical assembly skills.
  • Basic computer skills, interface devices and software interaction: i.e. Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and other software requiring basic data entrée. 
  • Able to work in a collaborative/teamwork environment.
  • Must be able to work in an organized manner alongside other machinery building activity.
  • Self-motivate to achieve scheduled task timelines and be able to cope with pressure on occasions.
  • Interpersonal skills to be able to communicate with employees at all levels within the company.
  • Be prepared to work occasional overtime when required.
  • Assist with tasks in other parts of the plant, as required.
  • Knowledge of good manufacturing practices.
