Machine Setup Technician 

Job Description:

Machine Set-Up Technician will support the initial start-up, set up and commissioning of pharmaceutical blister packaging equipment. Specifically, assist controls engineers with initial power up, assure tooling alignment, homing of stations and development of format driven recipes on HMI screen. Candidates must have a good electro-mechanical troubleshooting ability with the abilities and interest in learning and applying the processes involved in the pharmaceutical blister packaging process. This position requires working with and alongside customers during acceptance testing. Other duties may include small project development and support of factory floor in all aspects.

Candidate must be able to perform the following specific duties and have the following skills:

  1. Have an aptitude for Electro-Mechanical systems and have an understanding of pneumatics, industrial controls including (PLC, HMI and servo systems) and machine wiring.
  2. Carry out internal testing of machines assembled.
  3. Self-starter and able to work in fast paced production environment with minimal supervision.
  4. Ability to read/update schematic diagrams and BOMs.
  5. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
  6. Ability to assemble complete thermoformer packaging machines/assemblies/sub-assemblies and ancillary equipment.
  7. Ability to troubleshoot machines/assemblies and sub-assemblies.
  8. Adhere to established standards relating to controls and service. Participate in developing/ refining standards for controls and service.
  9. Assist with R&D efforts.
  10. Participate / Lead in Factory Acceptance Testing.
  11. Knowledge of good manufacturing practices.
  12. Train customers and co-workers on systems as required.
  13. Candidate is expected to quickly develop strong problem solving skills for troubleshooting packaging equipment.
  14. Basic computer skills: Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Solidworks knowledge is an advantage.
  15. The ability to work in an organized manner and be able to cope with pressure on occasions.
  16. Interpersonal skills to be able to communicate with employees at all levels within the company.
  17. Poses the physical strength to handle weights of up to 56 lbs.
  18. Be prepared to work overtime when required.
  19. Assist with tasks in other parts of the plant as required.

 

Education

High School diploma or GED required.  An associate degree or equivalent is desired.

Job Requirements

Candidate must have 3-5 years of experience with Pharmaceutical packaging and blister packaging machinery.

Experience in FDA-regulated environment preferred.
